A senior police officer was charged in Nairobi on Friday with renting guns to criminals. Senior Sergeant Gabriel Rotich, who is in charge of the armoury at DCI in Kiambu, appeared before Milimani senior resident magistrate Hellen Onkwani. The prosecution told the court Rotich may abscond from court jurisdiction. But awyer G. Kanyi said his client is a police officer, a Kenyan citizen and will attend court as ordered. Evidence of collusion between police and criminal gangs emerged after guns from the Kiambu station were found in his house.
