Coos Commissioners upset budget hearing on a weekday

By Barbara TetreaultCOOS COUNTY — The Coos County commissioners are upset that the public hearing on its proposed 2018 budget is being held on Monday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Coos nursing home in West Stewartstown. By statute, the delegation is required to hold a public hearing on the commission’s budget. The commissioners have submitted a 2018 county budget of $37.4 million to the delegation. The budget is up $2.4 million or 6.99 percent over the current budget of $35 million. That tax increase is in addition to using $2.9 million in 2017 surplus to reduce the 2018 county tax.
