Cool summers are becoming a distant memory

Is this summer going to be scorching hot or a damp squib? The Met Office outlook does indicate temperatures could be higher than normal, but that does not necessarily mean a heatwave lasting all summer. It could be that nights are unusually warm, different regions are unusually warm, or one particular summer month is very warm. Perhaps more startling is a graphic on the Met Office website that shows Britain’s average summer temperature each year since 1910. Shades of blue show colder summers; shades of red for warmer summers.
