(TERRY LEAVITT PHOTO)CONWAY — Selectmen decided Tuesday to seek an internal candidate to fill the vacancy Town Manager Earl Sires leaves when he retires at the end of July. He said there's no set procedure for replacing a town manager but in-house advertising is "an acceptable form of recruitment." The job description says the town manager has direct supervision authority over the public works, planning, zoning, building inspection, assessor, recreation, finance and town welfare departments. Also, the town manager may have "indirect supervision" over all appointed staff and departments in the town. He added that the town charter authorizes selectmen to enter into a contract with a town manager for five years.
