Tang, who billed himself as the “King of 1 Per Cent Weekly Returns,” was convicted of fraud in 2012. “I did nothing wrong before,” wrote Tang in one of several emails to the Star. Acting on a tip, the OSC issued a warning to the public that Tang was back in business, despite the lifetime ban it issued following his conviction. “More people wanted to do business with me, they don’t trust OSC,” wrote Tang, who scoffed at the lifetime ban. Once I have money I will go to the court and ... the public to stop (the) OSC (from) harming Chinese investors and Canadian investors as well,” wrote Tang.
