Convicted Toronto serial killer tells court he was framed

In a surreal moment in a Toronto court Tuesday, convicted serial killer Mark Moore read a letter claiming the 361 University Ave. courthouse had a “vendetta” against him and that the man he’d been found guilty of assaulting had framed him for two of the murders he’s serving life sentences for. They’d been scheduled to appear together in May 2013 for a violent 2010 robbery, but Williams never made it to a courtroom; instead, he left 361 University in a stretcher. In the holding cell, Moore hit Williams and then repeatedly kicked and stomped on his face after Williams fell to the floor, Crown attorney Marnie Goldberg told the court Tuesday, adding that Williams suffered a broken orbital bone. The Crown requested a sentence of five to six years, factoring in that, at the time of the assault, Williams was a Crown witness in Moore’s quadruple first-degree murder trial. As well, there was no evidence that the assault happened to prevent Williams from testifying against Moore, Robb said.
