more-inThe government is seriously considering to convert the 167 villages lying within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) into Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) or municipalities, either stand-alone or by conjoining them with the nearby municipalities, said Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T. Forming of municipalities at Ameenpur, Bollarum, Kompally, Puppalaguda, Pragathinagar, Kollur, Turkyamjal and a few others came up for discussion at the meeting. Stating that the conversion of the municipal bodies would ensure regulated development with proper planning, the Minister assured them of the government’s support with sufficient funds. He also wanted them to take up the issue with the people of the regions and explain to them the benefits of forming municipal bodies in place of gram panchayats. Sreedevi, PR Commissioner Neetu Prasad, Ranga Reddy Collector Raghunandan Rao, former Mayor T. Krishna Reddy and others were present.
