Mayor Vicente Loot of Daanbantayan, Cebu allegedly shot himself by accident inside his vehicle on Wednesday night, three weeks after he survived an ambush with his family. According to a spot report from Police Regional Office (PRO7), Loot, with two companions, just left a vigil for his supporter and just boarded his vehicle when the gun tucked on his waist accidentally went off hitting his left leg. He was rushed to Daanbantayan District Hospital for medical treatment. The mayor and his family were ambushed at the New Maya Port in Cebu on May 13 which wounded four people and have accused the police to be behind the attack. A former police general, Loot was named by President Rodrigo Duterte as among the narco-politicians which he denied.
