Continental Free Trade Crucial to African - AU CommissionerJanuary 25, 2017 - Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) is crucial to address critical issues of Africa “by bringing fragmented countries into one big market”, AU Commissioner for Trade and Industry said, according to ENA. “CFTA means prosperity of the continent, means employment, means addressing quality infrastructure, means trade facilitation, and means promoting each other’s project”, according to Acyl. As prosperous people have jobs and are food secure, they will concentrate more on creative things than joining terroristic activities in the continent, the commissioner indicated. First of all, we have negotiating forum made up of member states and we also have continental taskforce made up of regional economic communities recognized by the African Union”, the commissioner noted. The AU Heads of State and Government will discuss about boosting intra-African trade and the establishment of Continental Free Trade Area by 2017.
