Prices for airline tickets and hotel rooms dropped last year when the economy locked down, so when today’s prices are measured against those figures, the increase looks outsized. U.S. stocks rose on Wednesday after data showed monthly inflation in the United States rose in July roughly in line with economists’ expectations. The Consumer Price Index rose 0.5 percent from the previous month and 5.4 percent compared with a year earlier.
