There is a brace of reports out this morning that provide some clues about the strength of consumer and business confidence amid growing hopes that the economic downturn will be less pronounced than initially feared. The closely watched GFK consumer confidence survey reports that we are increasingly confident about our personal finances. Consumers’ views on their personal financial situation for the next 12 months improved from -4 to -3, reports GFK, and the wider confidence index rose by three points to -27.
