The R1.56 billion solar investment will create a 68MW solar PV plant that will generate 176GWh of clean energy a year. Exxaro Resources, alongside its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cennergi, unveiled the Lephalale Solar Project (LSP) through a sod turning ceremony. Construction on the solar project at the mine in Limpopo has already started, with the solar PV plant set to be completed during the first quarter of 2025.
