Construction starts on solar project to power mine in Limpopo


by Tarren BoltonAnother South African mine has started construction on a utility scale solar PV plant, this time in Limpopo Province. The R1.56 billion solar investment will create a 68MW solar PV plant that will generate 176GWh of clean energy a year. Exxaro Resources, alongside its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cennergi, unveiled the Lephalale Solar Project (LSP) through a sod turning ceremony. Construction on the solar project at the mine in Limpopo has already started, with the solar PV plant set to be completed during the first quarter of 2025. Mr Chupa Stanley Mthabatha, Premier Limpopo Province, at the Sod Turning Ceremony of the Lephalale Solar Project.
