Consent breaches revealed for company owned by regional councillor

Horizons Regional councillor John Turkington's forestry company was reprimanded by council officials for doing inadequate earthworks without consents. Manawatū-Rangitīkei councillor John Turkington and his company John Turkington Ltd were charged by the council in October with breaching the Resource Management Act. Both notices relate for work Turkington's company did in Whanganui. The Tokomaru West Rd site also had problems with stormwater runoff and a lack of earth stabilisation. Both abatement notices stated Turkington's company could be prosecuted if he did not comply with orders to remedy the problems.
