If your father or grandfather worked in a mine in the Connellsville Coke Region, researcher Cassandra Vivian wants to hear his story. "The whole coal and coke industry began in the Morgan Valley," said Vivian, who researched coal and coke production in the Morgan Valley this past summer. Additional grant funding from the Rivers of Steel Heritage Corporation now paves the way for the next phase of research. The first phase of research was completed under the Jacob's Creek Watershed Association, and a second phase under the Westmoreland Fayette Historical Society.
