Congress resumes session today and is expected to concentrate on measures to reinforce the government’s coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) response. Romualdez said while present House rules do not provide for videoconferencing, “it does not prohibit us from adopting this innovation. House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales released a memorandum that was shared to the media on Sunday, listing the protocols that would be adopted during the House sessions. But we can only do that after we reconvene and approve the [changes in the Senate] Rules allowing that,” he said in Filipino. Like the House, the Senate needs to amend its rules before introducing teleconferencing during sessions and committee hearings.
