NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader MM Hassan on Tuesday said that women who are menstruating shouldn't enter the places of worship during that time as their bodies are impure, a news agency reported. "Menstruation is impure and during this period women should not enter temples. There is a scientific reason behind the instruction that women shouldn't enter during this period," Hassan said at a public function in Thiruvananthapuram. He also said that his views shouldn't be given other interpretations. "During this period (menstruating), Muslim women don't observe fast. My opinion is that women shouldn't go to the temple, mosque or church when their body is impure," he said.Hassan, a former Minister in the Government of Kerala, was today appointed as the interim president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) after VM Sudheeran quit the post earlier this month.
