The Congress’ first list of candidates for 18 of 26 municipal corporation wards — to be released on Friday — has no ticket for those loyal to former Union minister and Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari. Tewari had sought 11 tickets for his supporters and sources said even in the remaining eight wards, it was unlikely that his supporters will be given a ticket. In the current House, of 26 elected councillors, the Congress has nine and the SAD-BJP alliance has got 15. Four former councillors including Harmohinder Singh Lucky, Kamlesh, Devinder Singh Babla, Jatinder Bhatia have been given a ticket. “We have finalised 18 names and will announce these on Friday,” said a senior Congress leader, adding that the names had been short-listed from among those applied.
