Congestion was also reported on a 1.5 kilometre stretch of the Dhaka-Chiottagong Highway near the Meghna-Gomoti Bridge on Sunday morning. Both sides of the Dhaka-Tangail Highway have been affected by the rains since Saturday night, causing congestion from Kaliakoir’s Chandra to Mirzapur, said Salna Highway Police OC Hossain Sarkar. “Water is pooling in the potholes and also slowed traffic,” the OC said. A stalled car on the highway at Gazipur's Kaliakoir caused further delays as vehicles moving in both directions were forces to share a single lane. “This has slowed traffic.”“Vehicles are moving slowly from Tongi to the Chandana intersection,” said Naojor Highway Police OC Abdul Hai.
