On Friday, the Government announced new measures to combat the spread coronavirus, including that most workers must stay at home unless they have been deemed essential. Only building-works related to tackling the virus, essential road building and emergency construction deemed absolutely necessary are allowed to be taking place across the country. Yesterday contractor BAM said work had continued at the NCH while the company had been unable to get confirmation as to whether the €1.4bn NCH project was covered by the exclusions. BAM’s work at the Intel site also continued until yesterday. The company said it had understood the site fell under the exemptions for essential work, however on Monday afternoon BAM said it received clarification that the work at Intel was to cease, and the site was closed last night.
