In recent weeks, there have been three stories emerging out of Africa as hopeful examples for a continent still struggling with the legacy of colonialism. Each—involving South Africa, Mali, and Ethiopia—is important as they reflect the ongoing problems the people of Africa have in establishing effective governments and their ability to find solutions.
