COVID-19 statistics were not available from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) on Monday, January 17. However, on January 17, the Ontario Ministry of Health reported active COVID-19 cases across the EOHU’s jurisdiction had decreased to 1,697 confirmed, reported cases. The numbers indicate the number of confirmed, reported active cases across the EOHU’s territory have decreased in recent days after going as high as 2,758 cases on January 11. The Ministry of Education is no longer listing COVID-19 cases associated with schools. Rates of absenteeism will instead be used as an indicator of possible COVID-19 cases among students and staff.
