A rider who died in a motorbike street race on the West Coast missed a flag alerting him the presence of crash around the corner. Guy Geoffrey Lowe, 54, was killed during the Greymouth Motorcycle Street Races in October 2016. The flag marshal on the preceding corner held up a yellow flag, which signified "danger, slow down, no overtaking, no jumping". GoPro footage, taken by a rider immediately behind Lowe, showed him approaching and negotiating the corner immediately before the street. The footage also showed the yellow flag was obscured from Lowe's view by the riders in front of him.
