Panelo issued the statement amid government hopes the nation will have a “solemn, peaceful, renewing break” for the Holy Week. “As the Lenten season commences the exodus to various places, concerned government agencies have been placed on heightened alert status to ensure the safety and security of all,” he said in a statement. In anticipation of the influx of travelers, Panelo said airport authorities have deployed security personnel and set up 24/7 airport police help desks.
