On Saturday, Massey University corporate communications director James Gardiner confirmed there were plans to stop offering computer science and information technology at the Manawatū campus. In November, Stuff reported more than 90 jobs at Massey University could be cut to slash staff costs. Massey staff were told the goal was to cut $15.7 million in expenses. While the university plans to cut computer science from the Manawatū campus, the Ministry of Education announced that digital technology classes will be compulsory at schools by 2020.
