(Source: File)The BJP-backed National Democratic Teachers’ Front (NDTF) Saturday registered a police complaint against an assistant professor of Dyal Singh College for allegedly “derogatory and objectionable” remarks against goddess Durga in a Facebook post. It is alleged that the post by Kedar Kumar Mandal, from the Hindi department, was made at 6.42 pm and later deleted. In its complaint, the NDTF asked police to lodge an FIR against the person who “publicly abused Ma Durga on Facebook”. They said the goddess is the “symbol of belief of crores of Indians” and that Mandal had made “derogatory and objectionable remarks” against her. “This is a deplorable, mischievous attempt to hurt sentiments in a tolerant country,” the complaint read.
