Company MD charged with bribing DOE officer


SHAH ALAM: A managing director of a company pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to bribing an officer of the Environment Department (DOE) as an inducement not to take legal action against him. Goh Chin San, 53, is accused of giving a RM5,000 bribe to a DOE senior environmental control officer over an alleged offence under the Environmental Quality Act 1974. Goh was charged under Section 17(b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009. Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud allowed Goh bail of RM12,000 with one surety and set May 13 for mention. He also ordered Goh to report to the MACC office in Shah Alam every month, surrender his passport to the court and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.
