A third of companies failed to increase the number of women on their boards in line with a government-backed targetMany of Britain’s biggest businesses have failed to meet a target for a third of company board positions to be filled by women, according to a report. Although the corporate sector is making strides, Women on Boards said that some companies were pulling their weight more than others. In its analysis of the FTSE All-Share, it found that smaller listed companies were lagging behind. SponsoredThe campaign group said that a government backed target for 33 per cent of board seats to be occupied by the end of 2020 was too narrow in its focus. It noted that smaller listed companies with a collective market capitalisation of £63 billion were not coming under the same scrutiny.
