MANILA, Philippines — Community journalist Frenchie May Cumpio and church worker Mariel Domequil are seeking relief from the Court of Appeals (CA) after a trial court in Tacloban, Leyte denied their request to overturn their conviction for terror financing. The defendants asked the CA to junked the omnibus order issued by the trial court on March 25, which denied their joint motion for reconsideration. In the assailed ruling, RTC Judge Georgina Uy-Perez said the defendants supplied the communist group firearms, clothing and money. The court said the defendants’ motion for reconsideration lacked merit.
