A celebration of the lives of Wolfgang Maier and Martin Hess will be held at the Tekapo Community Hall on Sunday. Two mountain guides killed in an avalanche near Mt Cook will be remembered at a community celebration. Guides Wolfgang Maier, 58, and Martin Hess, 50, died on October 31 when an avalanche struck their climbing party on Mt Hicks. While a funeral for the two was held in Christchurch on Tuesday, a community celebration of their lives will be held at the Tekapo Community Hall on Sunday.
