Volunteer Maria Scammell has helped with many community events and projects in Winton, and next on her list is the town's skate park. "It's really exciting and great for the community," said Scammell, who has a busy life. She and others on the pool committee organised the Winton Fun Run this year and will again in 2018. Soon after arriving, Maria joined Central Southland Plunket as a way to help in the community and meet people.
