Community contributions recognised in New Year honoursMARION VAN DIJK/STUFF Helen Pollock with her sculptural installation Victory Medal at Nelson Provincial Museum, to commemorate the centenary of WWI. Research, philanthropy and community-minded service by North Shore people are recognised in the New Year Honours. Chief executive of YES Disability Resource Centre, Sonia Chambers is recognised for her work for disabled people across the North Shore community. Sue Stanaway is appointed a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to philanthropy and the community. Sherry became a councillor for the North Shore City Council and the Takapuna Community Board in 1992.
