More conservation volunteers are needed in the Nelson region. Conservation volunteers in the Nelson region have contributed nearly $3 million worth of unpaid volunteer hours according to a recent survey, but more people power is needed. A NZ Landcare Trust survey, where 23 Nelson and Tasman community conservation groups responded, has revealed the huge difference people giving up their time to undertake conservation work has made to the Nelson region during 2017 and 2018. NZ Landcare Trust Nelson/Marlborough coordinator Annette Litherland said the groups that responded to the survey "probably made up less than half of the conservation volunteer groups in the region". SUPPLIED New Zealand Landcare Trust regional co-ordinator Annette Litherland says a community conservation group survey has shown some amazing results.
