more-inFor the third day in a row, proceedings of the Delhi Assembly were disrupted, this time over the deaths of homeless people in the winter. As the proceedings began on Wednesday, BJP MLAs entered the well of the House demanding that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government answer their allegation that 44 people had died due to the cold. The AAP MLAs hit back, accusing BJP leaders of being involved in the death of Judge B. H. Loya. ‘Drama’Responding to the BJP MLAs, Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain said that the BJP had been engaged in a “dhanda [business]” of blankets. Currently, capacity of 7,000 is still vacant.”Capacity of sheltersHowever, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board’s (DUSIB) report on night shelter occupancy as on 1.27 p.m. on Wednesday said there are arrangements to accommodate only 20,984 homeless people in porta-cabins, buildings, tents and subways.
