AUSTRALIA endured a day to forget on day three of the world indoor athletics championships as main medal hopes Sally Pearson and Ryan Gregson crashed out in their semi-finals. Gregson and Pearson finished third in the 1500m and 60m hurdles respectively, but their times were not quick enough to book a spot in their deciders. “For me it was about coming here to get this quality racing before the Commonwealth Games, which I just can’t get in Australia,” Pearson said. “I didn’t run that poorly, it’s just cutthroat, when the top two automatically qualify for the final,” Gregson told AAP. Highly rated 20-year-old pole vaulter Kurtis Marschall is also in action on the final day of competition.
