The Mt Kenya region National Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called for more support and capacity building of small and medium-sized enterprises. Speaking in Sagana, Kirinyaga, delegates from Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua and Nyeri counties said majority of the people in the region are in the SME sector. Led by their chairman Thinguri Warwathe, the delegates said county governments should tailor their programmes to boost SMEs. The chamber voiced its support for intra and inter county trade cooperation to maximise resource endowment from various parts of the country. The delegates also declared their support for Richard Ngatia, chairperson of the Nairobi chapter.
