The result is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party Who Dis?, which hits comic book stores May 15. A portion of the comic book’s sales will benefit two charities, RAICES, a nonprofit that serves immigrant children, families and refugees, and the USO, which supports military service members and military families. Dean Haspiel, a Brooklyn-based cartoonist and producer of the webcomic The Red Hook, contributed a two-page comic to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party Who Dis? Haspiel told me, “I didn't have a lot to say about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because she's so green (pun intended) yet refreshing, someone to watch grow. Marguerite Dabaie, author and illustrator of graphic novel The Hookah Girl and Other True Stories, was eager to contributor to the comic book.
