The controversial statue paying tribute to Filipino comfort women is going on a school tour to educate students about that period in the country’s history. “We have to remember our history as part of nation building. ADVERTISEMENTDifferent groups from various sectors met recently and came up with the idea of taking the statue created by Jonas Roces on a school tour. However, they did not give more details, saying they were still working on the schedule. The meeting happened days after the statue, which was installed on Roxas Boulevard last Dec. 8 to honor Filipino women kept as sex slaves by Japanese soldiers during World War II, was removed, supposedly because of a flood control project.
