The 7-year-old mare was one of seven horses Birchwood owner-trainer Stephen Blair-Edie started at the Southland Racing Club's Christmas meeting. Blair-Edie also won with jumper The Quiet Man in a 2500m flat race, the Southern Insulation Handicap. Outsider The Quiet Man was most impressive in the first race when coming from last to win by two lengths. The Shinko King gelding provided Blair-Edie's apprentice, Amless Bohorun, with his third race win.
