Comanche Nation chairman declares special meeting for own suspension unconstitutional


LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Days before the Comanche People were set to vote on the suspension of their Chairman, the Chairman is canceling the special meeting himself while calling it unconstitutional. The Special Meeting for the General Council was set for Saturday, Feb. 24 regarding the possible suspension of Mark Woommavovah. However, in a release sent to 7News just this afternoon, that meeting has been canceled. 3(b) of the Comanche Constitution, in that “Comanche Business Committee members are only authorized to submit a request for a special Tribal Council Meeting to the tribal Chairman” adding that it’s the Chairman’s duty to review it. The statement goes on to say the Chairman thoroughly reviewed the request and determined it unconstitutional.
