Proposition 22 effectively keeps the gig workers out of the workers’ compensation system. The future course of the litigation, which was filed by the Service Employees International Union and four gig drivers, isn’t clear. The corporate drafters of Proposition 22 dressed it up as a boon for driver and passenger rights, but Roesch didn’t bite.
