KUCHING: It was a colourful but wet new year’s eve, as Sarawak launches its Visit Sarawak Year 2019 at the Kuching waterfront tonight (Dec 31). Crowds of people are thronging the two km-long famous waterfront in the state capital to usher in the new year. Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg and state cabinet ministers are scheduled to attend the countdown later. In his speech before the midnight countdown, Johari is expected to spell out plans to attract record revenue from tourism in 2019. The state hopes to rake in RM 8.79 billion revenue from five million visitors in 2019.
