By MICHAEL KITCH, LACONIA DAILY SUNLACONIA — The capital campaign to finance a share of the cost of renovating and restoring the Colonial Theatre stepped closer to its goal of raising $2 million this week when Rusty McClear, president and chief executive officer of Mill Falls at the Lake contributed $100,000 toward the project. "We are proud to donate to the Colonial Theatre project," McLear said, "and look forward to watching the progress over the next year to bring this theater back to the majestic beauty it once was. Gail Batstone, general manager of Mill Falls at the Lake, who co-chairs the Colonial Fundraising Committee, said that "This has been a dynamic and exciting project to work on. Justin Slattrery, executive director of the Belknap Economic Development Council, said that the capital campaign, which began in June, has reached way more than halfway toward its goal thanks to the generosity of businesses and individuals in the Lakes Region.
