Colombia to Reopen Embassy in Addis Ababa after 50 years – Ethiopian Monitor


ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia and Colombia have agreed to scale up cooperation in various areas as the South American country announced its decision to reopen its embassy in the East African nation. The MoUs including on starting political consultation were signed during Colombia’s Vice President Francia Elena’s visit to Addis Ababa on Wednesday. Vice President Elena held talks with Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen after witnessing the signing event. During the discussions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) says Demeke expressed his appreciation for Colombia’s decision to reopen its embassy in Ethiopia after 50 years. Two decades later, the country opened its embassy in Addis Ababa and closed it in 1974.
