The deceased was identified as Tushar Chakma, son of Nilranjan Chakma, of Dewanpara village in Lakshmichhari upazila. According to witnesses, Tushar was sprayed with bullets by 7-8 youths while he was in a motor garage in the area. Khagrachhari police station Officer-in-Charge, Shahadat Hossain Tito, said Tushar was involved with the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), Prosit Khisa group. Niron Chakma, publicity secretary of UPDF Prosit Khisa group, also said Tushar was a general student.
