The accused Srabon Haldar, is a first year student of Dhaka's Bir Shreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College, hailing from Gobindashi village of Bhuapur upazila in Tangail. Confirming the arrest, Bhuapur police station Officer-in-Charge Rashidul Islam said Srabon is accused of making derogatory remarks about Islam in a post made at one of his friend's group on Facebook. Local Muslims in Gobindashi village vandalized Srabon's house on Monday after Srabon's friends spreaded the post on Facebook, sources said. Denying the allegations, Srabon said he had made no such comments and his Facebook account may have been hacked.
