A London, Ont., psychiatrist was stripped of her licence Monday for sexual abuse after a discipline panel found she had repeated sexual encounters with a patient. Sex between a patient and a health care professional is prohibited under Ontario law, and requires the mandatory revocation of the professional’s licence. The patient was dealing with a number of mental health issues, including depression, alcohol abuse and an eating disorder. A physician whose licence has been revoked for sexual abuse can reapply in five years, though there is no guarantee they will get it back.
