Howard could not bear to lose his 700,000 cards, many dating from the early 1960s and 1970s. In 2005 Katrina was far less kind to Mark Bologna and his brother Matthew, both New Orleans natives. Most of the cards were from the early 1970s through the early 90s, including complete baseball and football sets. “We had boxes and boxes of unopened cards,” Mark, the host of the fascinating Beyond Bourbon Street podcast told me.
