The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) disclosed Wednesday that the power outage in the southern region is due to the collapse of the transmission towers feeding the region. In a statement, the GECOL pointed out that the company had to resort to the manual load shedding methods to maintain the public electric grid and prevent a total blackout. The company stressed that work is underway to maintain the damage and restore the circuits to service again.
