PITTSBURGH — Like most kids growing up in Canada, Colin Wilson dreamed of playing in the National Hockey League and one day winning a Stanley Cup. Even from a young age, when Wilson was helping his dad run a hockey camp in Winnipeg, there was an understanding he would follow a similar path. Toews texts Wilson his support: 'Good luck' After three tries, the Predators finally defeated the Blackhawks in the first round of the playoffs. The two grew up playing hockey together in Manitoba, where they competed on the ice (“He beat me in the final,” said Wilson) and their rink-building fathers competed in creating the ice. “He just says good luck, but he’s certainly rooting for me,” said Wilson.
