(CNN) Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid -- who drew controversy for kneeling during the National Anthem when the two were San Francisco 49ers teammates -- have settled their collusion grievance cases against the NFL. The league and the players' attorneys, Mark Geragos and Ben Meiselas, released a joint statement Friday that reads as follows:"For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL. As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. Kaepernick is still without a team, while Reid is under contract with the Carolina Panthers. Kaepernick became a lightning rod in 2016 while with the 49ers when the quarterback refused to stand during the National Anthem, protesting what he believes are racial injustices and ongoing police brutality in the US.
